History

Cane and Pine Design is a family business started by Angela and Peter Small in 1987 when they acquired an existing cane retail shop in Newcastle.  Cane Design as it was known was immediately expanded to include pine furniture into its range, so the store was renamed 'Cane & Pine Design'  To enhance the design part of the name, Angela started to introduce various interior accessory designs such as lamps, pictures and mirrors 

In 1990 the business moved to the newly established award winning Milkhope Centre on the Blagdon Estate near Seaton Burn, seven miles north of Newcastle upon Tyne. These attractively converted farmbuildings rapidily became a retail destination point complete with a coffee shop and later a farm shop.

Cane & Pine Design has grown over the years establishing itself as a leading supplier of furniture and accessories for the home and conservatory.  With their experience of importing cane furniture Angela and Peter have been able to select the best of cane products to include in the range.  With the changes in fashion they have expanded the range of wooden furniture from just pine to now include beech, oak, ash, and acacia. The range of accessories has been expanded and an additional range of gifts has been included, giving a total shopping experience that should not be missed.
